The popularity of airbrush makeup systems is on the rise. There are a number of different reasons for this. For one thing, spray applicators provide much higher quality coverage. As the makeup gets applied as tiny particles, they rest on top of the skin, instead of sinking into the pores.
If you use a product with high-grade pigments, these particles then seamlessly blend to form an even, smooth complexion. One of the best airbrush sets on the market right now is the Luminess Airbrush Makeup Kit. So, we’re going to tell you a little more about it.

The Luminess Airbrush Makeup Kit - A Quick Summary
The important thing is that this set is designed for beginners. Luminess also offers a ‘pro’ version, but the starter kit is recommended if you have never airbrushed before. It contains two foundation shades, blush, a bronzer, and a primer.
Unlike other products, you’re asked to pick your foundations from a series of five skin tone categories. The idea is that you end up with two shades which not just match your complexion, but which can be mixed together for slightly different effects.
One of the things which we love about Luminess is that they provide a color matching service. If you’re not sure which shades you need, you can send them a clear picture of your face, and they’ll pick two for you (with your approval).
Getting To Grips With The Main Features
In many ways, the Luminess Airbrush Makeup Kit is a lot like those of other big brands. Then again, it also has some very unique features. For instance, we don’t remember seeing an applicator which uses moisturizer before. However, you can airbrush and hydrate (with the included product) to ready your skin for makeup.
It is a neat feature because so many cosmetics dry out the complexion. Here, you can give yourself a head start, especially if you’re planning a long day of wear. According to the manufacturer, the coverage lasts a minimum of eighteen hours can stay in place for a day or longer, depending on external conditions.
We should stress though that this is only possible with lightweight layers. You have to apply this makeup in a very specific way to ensure longevity. The ideal method is two or three coats if you need quite extensive coverage. Don’t apply it all as one heavy coat though, because the formula will dry and cake on your skin. It will also fade much faster.
That is the only downside to this product. It takes longer to do your makeup than you might expect, which isn’t a great endorsement for an airbrush gun. On the other hand, the results are impeccable, so it is up to you to decide whether those extra ten minutes is worthwhile. The cosmetics are very effective at covering spots, scars, age spots, and dark patches.

What Does The Kit Include?
As described, the Luminess Airbrush Makeup Kit comes with two foundations (chosen by you), a blush, a bronzer, a glow product, and a primer/moisturizer combination. You also get the compressor, the applicator gun, a nozzle, and a rubber hose. There aren’t any extensive instructional materials, but the Luminess website is packed with information.
In our opinion, the best thing about this airbrush kit is also, kind of, the worst. While we love that you can personally pick your own foundation shades, only including two is a little limiting. Even though you can blend them to make slightly different tones, it just isn’t enough. You’ve got to get pretty lucky to find a perfect match.
The quality of the cosmetics cannot be faulted, however. They are very long lasting when applied as instructed. The only thing to remember is that applications must be light. If you’re in a rush to get to work and opt for the heaviest setting, you might find that your makeup starts to fade a little sooner than expected.
